Vision, Values and Ethos
Our Vision and Values
At Brierley Primary School, our mission is simple:
Nurture, Aspire, Believe, Achieve
These four words are at the heart of everything we do. They shape our relationships, our teaching, our expectations and the experiences we provide for our children and families.
Nurture: We support every child’s wellbeing, inclusion and sense of belonging
Aspire: We promote high expectations and ambition for all pupils
Believe: We build confidence so that all pupils feel valued and capable
Achieve: We work together to secure strong outcomes for every child
We want every child, every member of staff, every family and every member of our wider community to feel nurtured so that they can aspire, believe and achieve. We are proud to be a family school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to succeed.
At Brierley, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, cared for and heard. We work hard to create an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and where each child is recognised as an individual. We want every child to know that they matter, that their voice is important and that they can achieve.
We are ambitious for all of our pupils. We want children to achieve beyond their starting points, widen their horizons and develop the confidence to embrace the opportunities ahead of them. Our aim is not only to help children succeed in school, but to thrive. We want to help them grow into confident, respectful and resilient young people who are prepared for life beyond Brierley.
Our Ethos
Our ethos is built on strong relationships, high expectations and a deep commitment to inclusion.
We believe that parents and carers are a child’s first educators, and that education works best when school and home work together in partnership. We value the role of families in every child’s learning journey and are committed to building positive, supportive relationships with our community.
Our school community is diverse, and we celebrate that diversity with pride. We promote respect, tolerance and understanding of ourselves, of one another and of the wider world. We are committed to equality, inclusion and ensuring that all children have access to the opportunities, support and experiences they need in order to flourish.
We also understand the importance of giving children experiences that broaden their understanding of the world and raise their aspirations. Our curriculum is rich, broad, balanced and relevant. It is designed not only to develop knowledge and skills, but also to widen cultural capital, spark curiosity and inspire ambition. Through visitors, trips, enrichment opportunities and hands-on experiences, we work hard to bring the world to our children and open doors to the possibilities beyond their immediate surroundings.
Through nurturing relationships, language-rich environments, targeted support and high-quality teaching, we help children to grow in confidence, communication, independence and a love of learning from the very beginning.
Above all, we want every child to leave Brierley Primary School knowing that they are valued, that they belong and that they can achieve.
