School Meals
School meals at Brierley Primary School are provided by Aspens. Children are offered a nutritious school meal each day, with a choice of two main courses, including a vegetarian option, together with a dessert. Our current menu runs on a three-week cycle. The cost of a school meal is currently £3.20 per day.
Lunchtime at Brierley
Lunchtime is an important part of the school day. We want children to enjoy their lunchtime in a safe, calm and sociable environment, while developing independence and positive routines. Children are supported throughout lunchtime and additional help can be provided where a child has particular needs.
Dietary Requirements and Allergies
If your child has a food allergy, medical dietary requirement, religious requirement or other specific dietary need, please make sure the school has up-to-date information. We work with families and Aspens to make appropriate arrangements wherever possible. If you need to discuss your child’s dietary needs, please contact the school office.

Paying for School Meals
The current cost of a school meal is £3.20 per day. Payment should be made online through the SchoolSpider app and can be made weekly, half-termly or termly. If you have any questions about school meal payments, please contact the school office.
Packed Lunches
Children who do not have a school meal may bring a packed lunch from home. Please make sure your child’s lunch is brought to school in a secure, clearly named lunch box or container. Children may bring a drink from home in a suitable plastic bottle or flask. Drinking water is also available in school.
For health and safety reasons, please do not send:
fizzy drinks;
sweets or lollies;
glass bottles or containers.
If your child forgets their packed lunch, we will try to contact you. If we are unable to do so, we will provide a school meal so that your child does not go without lunch. The cost of the meal will then need to be paid.
Free School Meals
Some children are entitled to Free School Meals depending on their age and family circumstances. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal through Universal Infant Free School Meals.
Families may also be eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals. We encourage parents and carers who think they may qualify to apply, even if their child already receives an infant free school meal, as eligible applications may also help the school receive additional Pupil Premium funding.
