School Meals

CBS Catering offers a nutritious school meal every day at Brierley. There are two choices of main course and sweets available daily including a vegetarian option. However, if your child has any special dietary requirements for health, religious or other reasons then that can be arranged.

Payment can be made on a weekly, half-termly or termly basis. You must pay online on the Schoolspider app.  If you have any queries regarding school dinner money then please contact the school office.

Our menus alternate bi- weekly and can be found on our Facebook page and on our school noticeboards in the Key Stage 1 and 2 playgrounds.

Packed Lunch from Home

Children who do not have a school dinner may bring a packed lunch from home. Please ensure that your child’s lunch comes into school in a secure named container. Water is available in the hall for your child or you can supply a drink from home for your child. These drinks are best supplied in plastic flasks or bottles or other safe containers. In the interests of health and safety, please do not send fizzy drinks, sweets/lollies or use glass containers.

If your child forgets his/her packed lunch we will try and contact you. If we are unable to do so then will supply a school lunch and ask you to reimburse us later.

Free School Meals

The Government provides schools with money to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called Pupil Premium. For every child registered, our school receives a sum of money, whether or not you choose for your child to have the free meal – you / your child may prefer a packed lunch. With this money we can increase our resources for the benefit of all the children. Many families qualify for Free School Meals and may not realise it.

You can register your child for Free School Meals if you receive any of these benefits

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190

If you think you qualify, please call 0300 123 5012 and they can tell you instantly if you’re entitled. All you need to hand is your national insurance number and your personal details (name, date of birth, address and your child’s details). You can also apply online on http://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/schools/free_school_meals.aspx and complete the online application form.

If you have any questions or queries please contact the school office.
