Our Governors
Message from the Chair of Governors
As Chair of Governors, I am very proud of our school and how far we have come in such a short space of time. The overall purpose of the Governing Body is to help our school provide the best possible education for all of the pupils in order to develop every child’s full potential:
Nurture, Aspire, Believe, Achieve.
The vision for our school is to create a safe, nurturing environment which enables each child to attain greatness and a lifelong love of learning. We will encourage all our children to reach their maximum potential, independently through inclusion and first hand discovery learning. We believe we are all individuals with different views, needs and aspirations; therefore all areas of the curriculum should be valued. Children learn best when they are happy and following their own interests, therefore we will ensure that they are given the opportunity to share the planning of our creative curriculum. We recognize that teamwork between staff, parents and children, working together with respect has the greatest impact on our children’s learning. We believe everyone has a place in the life of the school and our school is the heart of the community. We can make a real difference to every child in our school.
The school is growing, with more and more parents choosing Brierley. Our most recent Ofsted inspection shows that the school is rapidly improving in all areas. We have good to outstanding teaching and inspiring leadership.
We care about the children’s education and all round development and at Brierley I firmly believe that we help all children to make the most of their potential.
In addition to our school, we have our own Nursery Provision - LittleBears@Brierley which is a preschool provision for 3 year olds. We established this nursery to help us to give children a firm foundation on which to base their education; everyone here at Brierley works hard to improve the life chances for every child.
I am proud of the school and the fantastic things that are achieved by those who belong to it.
Kind regards,
Mike Birchall
Chair of Governors
The governors of Brierley have a pivotal role in the strategic running of the school. All governors are volunteers and give their time freely for the good of the school and the children.
Meet The Governors
Mr Mike BirchallChair of Governors |
Mrs Maria Wilson Governor My name is Maria Wilson. My main job for 36 years was as a High School Teacher of History in the West Midlands. A job which I was passionate about. On my retirement, I joined Cheshire East Council as a Clerk to Governors to continue to work in education. I currently clerk for ten schools, in the Primary and Secondary sector. This keeps my brain working. For five years I also worked in a cake shop two days per week. This enabled me to make new friends when I moved home to Cheshire. In my spare time, I enjoy watching rugby union, embroidery, baking, reading, gardening, and walking. I am also the Chair of the Staffordshire Inter-Club Tennis League and the Honorary Secretary of the Tatton Garden Society. |
