Curriculum by Year Group

At Brierley, our curriculum is carefully planned so that learning builds progressively from the Early Years through to Year 6.

Each year group follows a broad and balanced curriculum designed to develop pupils' knowledge, vocabulary, skills and understanding over time. Our long-term plans show the key areas of learning that pupils will experience across the academic year and how subjects are sequenced within each year group.

These plans give parents and carers an overview of what children will be learning throughout the year. They sit alongside our subject curriculum plans, which show how knowledge and skills develop progressively across the whole school.

Teachers use these long-term plans as a starting point for detailed planning, adapting teaching where necessary to meet the needs of the children in their class while maintaining high expectations for all pupils.
